I had a patron come in the library. She wanted to know if we had books of family crests. I said yes, but that without doing research having the same name didn't mean it was your crest. We didn't find anything.
She then said she had seen it on the web. I said as nicely as I could, but anyone can have a web site and say anything. How will you feel down the road if it is tattooed on you and it is wrong? The answer it seems is that it doesn't matter.
This is right up there with tattoo patrons who want something Asian and are picking characters from the dictionary without knowing the subtleties of the language. sigh
I officially wash my hands of tattoo idiots.
